Drive Radius – Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Drive Radius (“the app”) shows how far you can drive in a set amount of time from a starting point. The app is provided by Drive Radius (“we”). This policy explains what information the app handles and why. In short: we collect as little as we can, we don’t run ads, and we don’t track you.
Information the app handles
- Starting locations. When you create a radius from your current location, a point you tap on the map, or an address, the app sends that point’s coordinates and your chosen drive time to our server, which forwards them to our routing provider (HERE) to calculate the reachable area. We do not store these coordinates or link them to you.
- Your current location. The app asks for location permission only so you can start a radius from where you are. It uses your location only while you are using the app and only when you choose “My location.” You can turn this off any time in iOS Settings.
- An anonymous device identifier. The app creates a random ID on your device. It contains no personal information and is sent with each request so the server can apply the free allowance. For that ID the server keeps only the time of your first lookup and a count of lookups used, nothing else about you. That record is deleted automatically after about 13 months without use. A daily total across all users, not tied to any ID, is kept for a day and a half. The ID is kept in your device’s Keychain, so it can remain after you delete the app; this prevents the free allowance from being reset by reinstalling.
- Subscription status. If you subscribe, purchases are handled entirely by Apple, and we never see your payment details. The app sends Apple’s signed proof of your subscription to our server to confirm it is valid. We do not store it.
- Address and place search. Search suggestions and place names come from Apple Maps (MapKit). Those requests go to Apple and are covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
- Your trips and layers. The trips and radius layers you save are stored only on your device. We do not receive or back them up.
- Technical logs. Our server runs on Cloudflare, which processes each request and may keep standard operational logs such as IP address and timestamps, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We do not use these logs to identify you.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads or work with advertisers.
- We don’t track you across other apps or websites.
- We don’t include analytics or third-party tracking tools.
- We don’t sell or rent information.
- We don’t ask you to create an account.
Who receives information
- HERE Technologies receives the starting coordinates and drive time in order to calculate the radius. See HERE’s privacy policy. We do not send them your device identifier or Apple ID.
- Cloudflare hosts our server, as described above.
- Apple provides maps, search, and subscriptions.
We may disclose information only if required by law.
Your choices
- Deny or change location access in iOS Settings; you can still enter an address or tap the map.
- Deleting the app removes your saved trips and layers from your device.
- To ask about or remove the record tied to your device identifier, contact us below. It also expires on its own after about 13 months without use.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date.
